Deviation Actions
Each group has its own rules, and this one is not an exception. This blog entry describes who (or what) are those whom we call 'elves', and thus who are allowed to be protagonists in the deviations of all media that we accept. We aware that elves come from mythology and those mythological elves were pretty different from the elves depicted nowadays in fantasy literature. We won't argue about which features elves must have or must not have. We just describe what we want to see and what we accept here.
By our definition, elves are wingless and hornless human-like intelligent beings with elongated pointy ears. That means that the elves look like humans, and the most significant visual difference is their pointy ears. Are their ears very long or not very long may differ from one realm to another, but they are surely longer than human ears.
The acceptable elves may look like more or less like humans of various body build. They may be depicted in various styles, including realism, anime and manga style, cartoon style, and many many others. They may have many traditional conventionalities and exaggerations (like anime-style eyes, big breasts, long legs). Chibis are accepted, too.
What is very important - since the main visual difference from humans are elf ears, the ears should be visible. Otherwise, you should provide evidence that your character is an elf. Say, if some foes (orcs) have put a sack on the head of a poor elf we can't see the ears, but if the picture is a part of a series or one of many pictures of the same character, we would gladly accept it. Just give us some proper links to understand it.
UPDATE: The description of the picture matters, too. We do read them. If you wrote that it is an elf in the picture and we don't see any obvious contradiction to this statement, we would accept it.
There are many generally cute creatures that generally are called nymphs, like dryads (wood nymph), water nymphs, and others. Sometimes they are depicted as normal elves with different colors of skin, but sometimes they are depicted with some specific features. Various kinds of nymphs can be accepted if they look like normal elves (no horns, no hooves, no animal faces, no other distinctive features - see below).
The size can matter. In general, the elves are supposed to be more or less of the same height as humans. A bit taller of a bit shorter is fine. Too short elves (e.g., "Santa elves") are generally not allowed. Currently, we are not familiar with giant elves. If you have such in your realm, you can show us the links. What if they are cool?
A specific exception - we do accept fairies (pixies). Little ladies with human bodies and dragonfly or butterfly wings (e.g. Tinker Bell). They may have pointy ears, or not. Pixies in distress are allowed and welcomed in our group.
A disclaimer - all of those mentioned below are not accepted as elves. They can be present on the picture or in the story as other characters, even as main characters, provided there is an elf in distress there (see the rules).
No muzzles, no snouts, or whatever you call them. Elves must have human faces. Features of various human races are surely allowed.
(Except for pixies - see above). We know that original mythological elves had wings or could have wings. We are oriented on modern depiction of elves in fantasy and games. We are not striving to restore the historical truth. We are more into sexy ladies and damsels in distress stuff. Sorry if this disappoints you.
Angels are beautiful, and angels in distress are even more beautiful. But this group is not about them.
Devils are not elves. They may be cute, but this group is not about them.
Even if they look like elves, they are not elves.

What we accept
Elves
The acceptable elves may look like more or less like humans of various body build. They may be depicted in various styles, including realism, anime and manga style, cartoon style, and many many others. They may have many traditional conventionalities and exaggerations (like anime-style eyes, big breasts, long legs). Chibis are accepted, too.

Nymphs
There are many generally cute creatures that generally are called nymphs, like dryads (wood nymph), water nymphs, and others. Sometimes they are depicted as normal elves with different colors of skin, but sometimes they are depicted with some specific features. Various kinds of nymphs can be accepted if they look like normal elves (no horns, no hooves, no animal faces, no other distinctive features - see below).
Short or tall
The size can matter. In general, the elves are supposed to be more or less of the same height as humans. A bit taller of a bit shorter is fine. Too short elves (e.g., "Santa elves") are generally not allowed. Currently, we are not familiar with giant elves. If you have such in your realm, you can show us the links. What if they are cool?
Pixies
A specific exception - we do accept fairies (pixies). Little ladies with human bodies and dragonfly or butterfly wings (e.g. Tinker Bell). They may have pointy ears, or not. Pixies in distress are allowed and welcomed in our group.
What we don't accept
A disclaimer - all of those mentioned below are not accepted as elves. They can be present on the picture or in the story as other characters, even as main characters, provided there is an elf in distress there (see the rules).
No animal faces
No muzzles, no snouts, or whatever you call them. Elves must have human faces. Features of various human races are surely allowed.
No wings
(Except for pixies - see above). We know that original mythological elves had wings or could have wings. We are oriented on modern depiction of elves in fantasy and games. We are not striving to restore the historical truth. We are more into sexy ladies and damsels in distress stuff. Sorry if this disappoints you.
No angels
Angels are beautiful, and angels in distress are even more beautiful. But this group is not about them.
No devils
Devils are not elves. They may be cute, but this group is not about them.
No vampires
Even if they look like elves, they are not elves.
No furries
Elves have no fur. Hence,
- no catgirls
- no foxgirls
- no werewolves
- no sheepgirls
- no deergirls
- nor any other of that sort.
Not all nymphs
Sometimes the nymphs are depicted as normal elves with different colors of skin, but sometimes they are depicted with some specific features. We only accept nymphs that look like as normal elves. An acceptable nymph must have
- no tail
- no fur
- no horns
- no hooves
- no fangs or claws
- no webbed feet or hands
- no bird legs
- no tree branches or roots instead of arms or legs.
Not any body build
While we accept different art styles (including many exaggerations of features), different body build, and different amount of sexiness, our tolerance has its limits. We do reserve our right to reject pictures showing extremely obese female elves, especially those with disproportionately wide hips or impossibly huge breasts, as well as female elves with huge muscles. We don't like too muscular women.
What does not matter
- The universe. We accept elves from any realm if they fit the above rules.
- Skin color. Light or dark, they all are elves. We love them all.
- Normally the elves are expected to be sexy. But sexiness looks differently for different people. In general, we accept anything - from slim flat-chested bodies to big floppy breasts and wide hips. (Read the limitations of our tolerance above).
- Pubic hair. Ridiculously, we witnessed some arguing about a possibility for an elf to have pubic hair. We allow such possibility. But we also allow a possibility that in your realm pubic hair can be an evidence that the elf is not purebred.
- How long the elves live. In general, the elves are supposed to live much longer than humans. Does it actually matter when an elf is in distress?
Anything else?

Hiatus for business trip!
EDIT: I'm back! The hiatus is over. Everything is going on as usual :)
Dear members and watchers of #Elves-in-Distress (https://www.deviantart.com/elves-in-distress),
There are several voting admins in the group but for a number of objective reasons there is only one who checks the submissions on a regular basis - yours truly. I go on a business trip for abroad till the 24th of April. And I am not going to visit this site with this account during all that time. Basically, it means that all submissions and all other requests to the group most likely will not be processed until the 24th of April. However they should not expire, so you can submit without worries. If everything w
Reorganization!
The important news! The group gallery was reorganized.
Main Gallery no longer exists
Since now all new submissions should go to the folder conveniently named Submissions go here. I hope it will not cause any misunderstanding.
New folders
A set of new folders was created. Currently those folders are:
DrawingsFor drawings - both traditional and digital media.
3D CGFor computer generated 3D images (the creation of this folder does not mean that we are going to loose our quality control on 3D images - we remain picky at them and don't accept primitive renderings by "character generators" or other programs of that sort).

Hiatus for vacations!
Dear members and watchers of #Elves-in-Distress (https://www.deviantart.com/elves-in-distress),
the founder of this group (yours truly) is going on vacation from 23.10.2016 till 30.10.2016, and the Internet may be unreachable for him (for me) during this time. Since our co-founders are busy with their own projects, is is possible that nobody would be able to approve your submissions and membership requests during that week. Please accept my apologies.
No worries, the submissions should not expire!
UPDATE: I do have access to the Internet, not as fast as at home, but sufficient to check the submissions. So, no worries!
Our rules (full text)

Our group is intended to collect and promote artworks (images and texts) showing the most unpleasant moments of elves lives - moments of terror, despair, shame, embarrassment, or, generally speaking, moments of distress. 2. What artworks we accept
2.1. Subject
2.1.1. The artwork must be focused on an elf or elves in distress. What means, the artwork must contain at least one elf in distress as an important feature.
